Hit ~80% of planned volume, never got injured, and every single long run happened: 14 → 22 → 29 → 42.4. The plan's one real rule — protect the long runs — held. Target was sub-4 stretch / 4:15 realistic. Finished 4:14:27. Called it.

💡 What the Marathon Taught Us

The engine builds faster than you think

Five weeks from couch to 42km at 6:02/km. Aerobic memory is real. This is now the operating thesis for every challenge on this site.

Long sessions are the only sacred sessions

Weekly volume slipped ~20% and it didn't matter. The 14/22/29km long runs were non-negotiable and they were what carried race day.

Nutrition rehearsal works

The gel schedule practiced on the 29km run executed flawlessly in the race. No wall, no bonk, negative-ish split. Rehearse, don't improvise.

The body holds if you listen

Zero injuries on an aggressive ramp because easy days stayed genuinely easy and rest days were real.

The mind is the multiplier

Km 30–35 asked the question. "I chose this" answered it. Now it gets asked again at 70.3 run km 15.

Five weeks is a real unit of transformation

Which is why the next challenge — IRONMAN 70.3 Belgrade — gets exactly five weeks too.
